Applications Close on 22 June 2010Dear Industry Partners,
The MDA is pleased to announce SPINE, our 4th Call for Proposals for the development of original publishing properties into multiplatform brands and franchises. We would like to invite eligible publishers/media owners/companies to submit proposals for publishing programmes with strong cross-media cross-platform elements, aimed at international distribution and readership.
The MDA will co-invest, together with publishing companies and other industry partners in selected programmes that present opportunities for global reach and economic returns under a co-sharing of rights and revenues arrangement. The level of MDA’s participation is dependent on the scale, scope and merits of the proposal.

ASIAN FESTIVAL OF CHILDREN’S CONTENT, 6 to 9 May 2010, Singapore

Target participants are writers, illustrators, librarians, teachers, publishers, editors, translators, literary agents and producers of media of Asian children’s content.

INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN BRIEFING ON FULL LAUNCH OF THE SKILLSCONNECT SYSTEM (PHASE 2)
Posted on February 11th, 2010 No commentsThe Singapore Workforce Development Agency had embarked on the development of an e-portal in order to better serve our partners in course accreditation and incentives management. This web portal will serve to provide a single platform for all transactions and will replace our various systems (SDF EasyNet and SRPNet).
2. Following the launch of Phase 1 of the SkillsConnect system on 1 November 2008 for course accreditation, Phase 2 of the system will be ready for a full launch on 22 March 2010.
3. The e-services made available in this phase include :
a. Registration/Update of Organisation Profile/Details
b. Course Approval for Funding
i. Training Organisations can apply for course accreditation (where applicable) and course funding approval in one transactionc. Submission of Application and Claims for both Course Fee Grant and Absentee Payroll Grant
4. All transactions pertaining to course fee grant, absentee payroll grant, profile registration, and course approvals are to be made in the SkillsConnect system. For a list of functionalities that would be available in the various systems, please refer to Annex A.
5. We cordially invite you to one of the several briefing sessions that we would be conducting to share and demonstrate the functionalities of the SkillsConnect system.

Buenos Aires appointed World Book Capital 2011
Posted on June 24th, 2009 No commentsAt a meeting in Paris on 12 June 2009, the Jury of World Book Capital, a jury which includes IPA, IBF, IFLA and UNESCO, appointed Buenos Aires as World Book Capital 2011 for the quality and variety of its application file, widely and enthusiastically supported by all players involved in the book industry (publishers, bookstores and libraries). Last year, the same jury had appointed Ljubljana, Slovenia as World Book Capital 2010. As usual, the program will start on World Book & Copyright Day on 23 April 2011. The current World Book Capital is Beirut, Lebanon.
